Creative & Inspiring Ways To Use The New Instagram Albums As A Brand

Instagram has released one of their most controversial updates since the rebrand in May of 2016. Instagram's newest feature allows you to create albums within the app. You can share up to 10 photos and/or videos in one post and your followers can view all of that you share by swiping through the post.

So you might be wondering, what can this new feature do for my brand? Well, it's simple! This is a great way to add value, tell stories, and evdeepen the relationship with your followers. Let's get to it!

Ways To Use Instagram Albums To Benefit Your Brand:

A PEEK INTO A CLIENT PROJECT

Instead of posting a sneak peek onto Instagram Stories (which we love to do!), where it will disappear in 24 hours, post a teaser in an album.

AN IN-DEPTH OFFICE TOUR (WITH DETAILS!)

Sometimes it seems pretentious to post a ton of photos of your own space, so this eliminates that! Make sure to grab little details, they will ultimately make a huge impact!

THE PROCESS BEHIND YOUR CRAFT

On social media it's hard to let the audience in to see the process of it all. Duh, use albums to take them behind the scenes, and through every step of the way.

SHOWCASE A GROUPING OF PRODUCTS

Happy hour? Hosting a bomb sale? Albums are extremely useful to brands that sell goods, and want to group "mini boutiques" or even like products.

INTRODUCE A NEW PRODUCT OR SERVICE

Grab attention and inform your audience all at the same time! Also use this to build hype behind a new launch.

TAKE YOUR CLIENT TO AN EVENT

Posting a ton of photos from a special event or workshop can seem spammy. Not to mention, sometimes it's hard to pick just one still from a full night of fun!

TRY A CAROUSEL AD FOR FREE

Have you heard of carousel ads? Carousel ads are a highly engaging and interactive format that performs 10 times better than regular ads—and this is all for free. Sign us up!

EXPLAIN HOW TO DO SOMETHING

Educate, educate, educate folks. When your audience can learn something they are more likely to trust you. And when they're more likely to trust you, they're more likely to hire you!

The Pros & Cons:

With every good thing, there's going to be cons too. Although Instagram Albums can benefit brands, they're not so great for influencers. The albums feature is another reason for an Instagram viewer to not leave the platform, so that leave's the person posting working harder and harder to make the viewer stay. More time creating content, more time posting, and of course with more posts comes more captions to write too. Maybe if Instagram released a call to action at the end of the album or in the caption this problem wouldn't be so scary to digital influencers? Who knows, the social media platform has kept all of their innovations pretty under wraps. If you'd like to read more about the release head over to Instagram's blog post.
